Blackhill Bounders was formed in1987 by Dave Griffiths and met at Blackfyne Community Centre before moving to Consett Sports Centre where we are based today.

The club continued to grow and social events became a normal part of the club, together with training and racing. Distances raced ranged from 5K to marathon to cross-country. In 1982 we undertook our biggest challenge, the 'Coast to Coast' - St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay, non-stop running for approx 30 hours. Since then we have done various long distance relays over 1-2 days, raced abroad in 1/2 marathon and marathons. Maybe the strangest event is decorating a 'tree' at Bolts Law near Edmundbyers with Christmas decorations. We have had other social events such as Treasure Hunts, Christmas parties, Barbecues etc.

At present we have 52 members of mixed ability and meet on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7pm, Friday at 5:45 and Sunday morning at 9am at Shotley Station.
