Cross Country Round up – 16/03/13

Members of Blackhill Bounders were involved in 2 major events last weekend, The English Schools National Cross Country Championship in Derby and The British Masters Cross Country Championships in Sunderland.

Jordan Bell and Isaac Dunn were selected by Durham County Team Managers to represent their County in The English Schools National Cross Country Championship down in Derby after qualifying just a couple of weeks ago in the inter counties. Teams comprise a maximum of 12 athletes, of which only 8 are allowed to compete. The first 6 finishers in each team count towards the team competition – finishing positions are added up, and the team with the lowest score wins.

246th Jordan Bell 26:05

Durham finished 26th out of 41 teams an excellent result by the lads and their Durham team mates.

The British Masters Cross Country Championships was at the same place as the National XC a few weeks earlier however the course was very different both in conditions and layout for this event. Bounders running were Stewy Bell for the men, Leanne Robertson and Sarah Lister for the woman. Sarah sadly had to pull out of the event on the morning so it was down to Stewy and Leanne to fly the flag for the Bounders.

Results – M35 – W35

72nd Stewy Bell 33:33

29th Leanne Robertson  27:07 (7th from the North East and 8th in age group)

Outstanding results huge well done to both of them!
