Are any Bounders free and willing to help out with this record breaking attempt?
The Marathon Relay of GB, which started on May 4th, and is now onto it's 11th day, covering nearly 1500 miles. The aim is to raise money and support for Brain Tumour UK and to attempt to break the world record for distance relay running. It finishes back in London next Monday, 21st May.
From the organisers - "There are some legs up in the North East where we currently only have one runner signed up which is risky for us as we ideally want to have more covering each leg to guarantee it's success and to hopefully share out some of the running. I was wondering if you could help us find some runners at short notice to fill the enclosed legs of the event. People can either choose to run the whole distance themselves or cover part of it. I have listed the legs, the dates and their start times. If you do have people who are interested please get them to contact me on 07917 428272.
John Stanford is the man behind this event and is travelling with the event all the time, so I am just trying to help support him
Thanks
Jon

The Lake District is expecting snow on Friday Saturday. The organisers of the Coniston 14 have advised us to check the local weather forecast and their HOME website http://www.coniston14.co.uk/ for late information. If the snow is heavy the race organisers may well cancel the event. Please note that the run starts at 11am and RAC quote 2hours 30min. travel time from Consett in good road conditions.

I’ve just received the following via email also:-
Alternative Parking for Coniston 14 Road Race.
Because of recent wet weather we will not be able to park the usual number of cars on the John Ruskin School field. We have identified a number of alternative parking sites. Please arrive early.
If travelling from Ambleside turn left at Shepherds Bridge Lane (signed “Hawkshead”) on entering Coniston village:
1. Sports and Social Centre on the left has parking for about 70 cars.
2. Coniston Primary School on right.
There is also parking at Monk Coniston, the head of the lake, for those who arrive early and are happy to have a 15 minute walk back into Coniston. From Coniston follow “Hawkshead” signs to the head of the lake.
If travelling from Greenodd/Torver direction:
1. On entering the village, there is a lay-by on the left before the Catholic church for about 15 cars (10 minutes walk to start).
2. In the village, turn left up the hill before the garage and left again onto Station Road, where there is a car park on the right hand side.
3. In the village, turn right before the garage down Lake Road. This leads past the Start to alternative parking by the lakeshore/boating centre.
Drivers please have a sheet of A4 paper with “Coniston 14 Race” written on to leave in the front of your car as we are negotiating parking charges at the various sites.
Thank you for your co-operation
Geoff Cooper, on behalf of the Coniston 14 Race committee.
