If you’ve not been before, give it a go. Say hello to someone and make yourself known, something like “Hello I’m new here, I’d like to go for a run” should do the trick. You don’t need to train up just to make an appearance, and you won’t be left behind. We have fast people, we have slow people. Mostly we just have people that enjoy running.
Membership of Blackhill Bounders also provides opportunities to:
- Obtain advice from a range of experienced, qualified and dedicated coaches and run leaders.
- Participate in weekly training and a monthly time trial.
- Benefit and improve your running, by training with others.
- Attend and compete in races across the country as a club member each with a competitive edge and subsidised social element.
Once you have joined us you will be registered with England Athletics and will receive a competition license card, see below, that allows each member discounted rates for race entries where there is an ‘affiliation’ discount available. You will also receive a member booklet which contains important information. English Athletics registration also entitles you to £15 off your first footwear purchase, £5 off your first Sweatshop purchase and 10% off subsequent purchases.
Competition license cards will not be sent out to new members between 31 January and the start of the new affiliation year. Paid up members are still fully eligible for competition and will be allocated a registration number.
£10 of your joining fee is sent to England Athletics for each registered member of Blackhill Bounders, unless an individual is NEVER intending to compete in any Athletics Event under the jurisdiction of England Athletics (Cross Country Harrier League, Track and Field Leagues, Road Races, Road Relays and similar) where ALL entrants have to declare, or have declared on their behalf, their unique England Athletics registration number.
There is now a system in place where race organisers are able to check the England Athletics database to check that any athlete claiming to be a member of any club is indeed a member. Any person who is not registered with England Athletics may be banned from competing until either the registration fee is paid or that individual pays an extra fee to be allowed to compete.
* Joining fees for 2012/2013 are set at £15 which is reviewed every September at the club AGM.
* If you join after June 2013 you will not have to pay subs till September 2014.
